How to set up a simple in-home studio for under $600
How to set up a home studio for under $600
It all begins with the thought of wanting to be independent and efficient. I wanted to start recording more during the pandemic. I just had a baby and going to the studio every week for $40-$60/ session just wasn’t an option.
I began to google studio set ups and reviews and I finally ran across Presonus. I really wanted something that was all in one. I needed everything but a computer so I needed it all at once and for a low price.
I never heard of Studio One software and I’m sure just like y’all, Protools and Logic were the go-to systems.
The best option seemed to be the “Presonus AudioBox Studio Ultimate Bundle, 25th Anniversary Edition” for about $320.00.
The pack includes :
AudioBox USB 96 audio/MIDI interface
Studio One Artist recording and production software (DAW) and Studio Magic Plug-in Suite
Eris E3.5 compact, 2-way, active studio monitors
HD7 studio monitoring headphones
M7 studio condenser microphone and desktop tripod stand
All required interconnect cables

I also ended up purchasing a standard mic stand for about $30.00 and the Marantz Professional Sound Shield Compact Compact, Folding Vocal Reflection Baffle for $60.00. All this totaled to about $500.00 with tax, warranty and so forth.
What I have learned to the feeling of independence, self sufficiency an the freedom that comes with being able to record in my room. It’s amazing! I used to freestyle ideas & ,melodies on my iPhone and now I’m just able to hop on the track and do just that!
I send my stems off to an engineer to record and the best part about it is that the files from Studio One are able to be imported into Protools and Logic!
I’m not an engineer nor am I a guru or the technical process of recording but I am a professional at recording and I have been able to record my entire project in the comfort of my own home.
All you need is a little but of money, some patience with yourself, and consistency and you’ll be well on your way to success! Think about how much money you’ll be able to save in the long run!
